simple brownies with molasses/brownies simples con melaza

i wanted to make brownies but i realized i didn't have enough golden sugar. therefore i altered the recipe a little - added a spoon of molasses and omitted the extra chocolate pieces.

ingredients/ingredientes:

185 g unsalted butter/matequilla sin azúcar
185 g dark chocolate/chocolate amargo
85 g all purpose flour/harina de trigo
40 g cocoa powder/cacao en polvo
3 eggs/huevos
180 g golden sugar/azúcar dorada
1 teaspoon molasses/cucharita de melaza

i doubled the ingredients because i needed more brownies :)

cut the butter into cubes, break the chocolate into pieces and put into a bowl. fill a saucepan with water and heat it until boiling. place the bowl with the chocolate and butter on the top of the saucepan. stir until both melt. let the chocolate cool down.

sift the flour and cocoa powder.

in a large bowl, place sugar, eggs and molasses. whisk everything together until the mixture looks thick and creamy (the sugar should be totally melted). pour in the cooled chocolate.

fold in the chocolate with the spatula...slowly and gently. when the dough becomes dark brown all over, fold in the dry ingredients. pour the brownie mixture to the greased and floured baking pan.

place in the preheated oven and bake for about 25 minutes (180 °C). let the brownies cool down before cutting.

majestic volcanoes/volcanes majestuosos

popcatépetl  (in náhuatl: Popōca, tepētl, 'that smokes, mountain or mount' - the mountain that smokes) and iztaccíhuatl (in náhuatl: Iztac, cíhuatl, 'white, woman') (also called the sleeping woman) are two volcanoes located in the center of mexico. they belong to three states of the republic of mexico - morelos, puebla and méxico. there are many legends connected to these beautiful volcanoes.
in the aztec mythology, popocatépetl was a brave warrior who was in love with a maiden called iztaccíhuatl. however, as i mentioned before, there are different versions of the same legend.
One of them says, that the maiden was a princess, who as a most beautiful one, would be sacrificed to the gods for good harvest. the warrior loved her so much and could not allow the sacrifice. to avoid it, he had to fleet with her. when they were escaping, the guards discovered them. a flying arrow struck the princess. her love took her in his arms and continued running. once they were away and safe, he laid her down on the field, promising to take care of her forever, that he would wait until she wakes up from her dream, so that they could continue living their love. she is still dreaming and it has been so long that the fields and the snow have covered them.
another version says that the father of iztaccíhuatl (tezozómoc) sent popocatépetl to war in oaxaca (one of the mexican states), promising him his daughter if he returns victorious (which the father thought was not possible). iztaccíhuatl received news that her beloved has died in the battle and she died of grief. when popocatepetl returned and found out about the tragic fate of his beloved one, he also died from sadness of loosing her. the gods were moved by their love and they covered them with snow to transform them into mountains.
there are more versions that vary in details. i do not know if at least something from the legends is true but one thing i am sure of...the princess and the warrior are still there...the warrior wakes up from time to time to see if his beloved one keeps on dreaming her eternal dream...
